Sinus Infection

by Atilla, Dec 05, 2007 05:44PM
I have been treating a sinus infection for 15 days and I still don't feel well.  I started with a headache, pressure and stuffy nose.  I really never noticed any cold symptoms; but I have always had thick  post nasal drip.  I was first started using Avelox for 7 days and switched to Levaquin 250 mg. twice a day for 8 days.    I switched  antibotics because Avelox made me very anxious and suffered hyperventilation.  I had to take a xanax every time I used Avelox.  .  The last two days I have been off the medications ; but my head still does not feel well.   Is there anything that can help get rid of this infection?

15 days of broad spectrum antibiotics is often helpful for acute sinusitis, but for chronic sinusitis sometimes more than 3 weeks of antibiotics is necessary.

Nasal saline rinse and nasal steroids are important in helping sinusitis as well.
