Swollen Lymph nodes- HIV?

by wakinwill, Dec 14, 2007 08:15AM
Hi,
I asked a question a couple of days ago and thank you very much for the reply. I'v since been to my local physician but i think he was understandably under the impression that it was a simple cold/flu and he suggested that its allergins in the atmosphere that have prolonged it.(it been 5 weeks) He prescribed me antibiotics and an anti-allergin and with five days supply of both. I've finished two days and my throat is still very sore/ nodes still swollen. I dont expect it to shift. I'm going to finish the course and I will have a HIV test next week as I'm almost convinced that my symptoms line up to those of HIV. I didn't discuss any of this (HIV)with my local physician .....but I had a bad flu starting about 5 days(swollen nodes in neck from same time) after my possible exposure which lasted a couple of weeks and it has gone and now im just left with this severely sore throat.....from researching on the internet it seems textbook HIV. I'm getting the test in a few days/ some time next week....the only thing that is slightly amiss is when i had the flu i had a lot of phlegm so I'm pinning my hopes on that little shred that its not actually HIV and its a terrible coincidence(im still having the test)......sorry for the long post im just hoping for any sort of advice or if this possibly sounds like some other ailment to anyone .....thank you in advance for any replies

2 days is not long enough for the anti-allergy medicine to take effect.  i would keep up with if for a few weeks before saying it's not working.

How'd the HIV test go?  your local doc needs to know.

what's your risk for HIV?
