Symptoms

Hi,

Just after a bit of advice. Used a condom for vaginal sex but received an unprotected blow job from a female escort about 7 weeks ago. Got a bit concerned a couple of weeks ago because I started with a bad sore throat and last week a had sickness, cold, diaherra (diarrhea) and a fever which has now cleared up. Had a hiv/std test at 5 weeks and got the results back this week which were negative.

The only symptom I have now is a bit of ear ache and bringing up green phlegm when I blow my nose. I also have 3, or 4 little red spots on the inside of my right leg just above my knee now which vary in redness - for example, i got up this morning and they were hardly visable but a few hours later they look a sore red colour, they aren't bothering me tho. Any ideas?

DIfferent HIV tests are sensitive at different times.  A PCR test often is sensitive very quickly.  Other tests may take up to 6 weeks to become positive

Overall, unprotected oral sex is a low risk for HIV

red spots would make me concerned about herpes, i'd see a doctor.

Thanks doctor but isn't herpes an STD? wouldnt my test ave picked that up aswell? Thanks

Herpes is most often diagnosed by visually looking at a rash

If you didn't have a rash at that time they would probably not have tested you

To test for HSV2 (herpes virus) you need to unroof a vesicle and test the fluid inside, which couldn't have been done if you didn't have a rash.  There is a blood test, but it's less reliable.
