Throat problems...phlegm, difficulty swallowing, some blood in phlegm.

I've been coughing up phlegm for more than 6 months. I went to the doctor about it and he wasn't able to conclude anything. We tried allergy and acid reflux medication but that was to no avail. I let it slide for a little while and just found ways to deal with the phlegm; however, I'm now more concerned than ever. I was in the shower earlier and I coughed up a bit of phlegm that had a speck of blood in it. Following that, my throat was coarse and it hurt to swallow for a little while. The pain subsided after taking a few gulps of saliva.
I'm 24 years old, an occasional drinker/smoker and have a will to live. What do I do?

try oregano oil, you can find it in a health food store. stings a little in your throat but really helped kill the cough problem.
