VIRUS? sudden 'crick in neck pain' and congestion shortly after

Today:  Saturday

Thursday Afternoon:  sudden onset of severe 'crick in neck' type pain - I am unable to turn my head left or down and
hurts getting up from laying down position or lifting my left arm

Thursday Evening:  felt like I was 'getting a cold' coming on.

Friday Morning:  wake up with bad sinus congestion, runny nose and sneezing

Saturday:  still having intense neck pain as described above and congestion - no fever or headaches

Is this a virus going around or do I potentially have a neck issue and cold?

Hi,

What you suspected is right; you are having an upper respiratory tract infection. For your congestion you can try taking mucolytics( like Bromhexine), antihistaminics (like cetrizine or fexofenadine), saline nasal drops to clear of the mucous and Antiinflammatory (Ibuprofen). Also do steam inhalations 2-3 times / day. Drink plenty of warm water and take bed rest for one or two days. Hope this should reduce your symptoms. If it is not subsiding please do consult your physician.

I too have had this and it is going on 3 weeks!!! My mother in law works for a pediatrician and she said that is has been going around, and can last up to 6 weeks! I saw my doctor just to be certain, and she too said that she is hearing this complaint frequently, and it must be a virus.  Ibuprofen with hot and cold compresses is all she could recommend :(

How did you get better? My mother has the symptoms and we don't know what it is? She goes to the doctor tomorrow but I wanted to know the outcome of your illness. Was it virus?
