Vitamin B-12 gone wrong

My doctor suggested getting a Vitamin B-12 shot to help boost energy and speed up recovery of a bad cold I had 3 weeks ago. I had never heard of doing this, and reluctantly agreed to getting it (in the butt).  After asking if any side-effects, and getting a response 'NO,' I have had acute soreness in the injection spot for 16 days now (not getting any better).  Could this be serious? The soreness is only supposed to last a maximum of a couple of days, and now I'm worried that the effects of the shot has gone awry.  I am otherwise perfectly healthy, so I can't understand why this would be happening. Any similar experiences, or what this could be, please let me know. Thanks.

Do you have a lump in the area?  Did you massage it?  Massage after an injection like that can decrease soreness and pain. You probably have a bruise--I think it would be called an intramuscular bruise.

Don't feel bad, I still have my awful stinking cold too. I plan to see the doctor this week because my lungs are starting to hurt...I'm miserable!
