Whitish Throat

by Molly219, Dec 19, 2007 06:16AM
Recently I have been taking amoxcillin for about 9 months, after being off it for a month i got a normal cold that lasted a week. I went on a 25 hour train trip in airconditioning an 1 day later started getting sick again but my throat was worse, it wasn't even really sore but i lost my voice for 3 days an my tongue an throat swelled an little cuts were on the swollen areas and if i brushed my tongue it bled. There was also white stuff on the back of my tongue (thrush like), it ended up taking 2 weeks to clear up.

I had also suffered from vaginal thrush 2x earlier i think due to the antibiotics, does thrush enter your mouth too?

Is this at all normal, I never have suffered from any kind of thrush before taking amoxcillin ?

If I keep looking at this site i'm sure i could self-diagnose myself with HIV to all kinds of herpes and cancers......

Thanks

yes, thrush can enter the mouth, and is common with a long course of antibiotics

why HIV?  do you have risk factors?

why were you taking antibiotics for 9 months?
