bad cold in my six year old, went away, now dry chronic coughing

my daughter was seen by a doctor on 2/  /08 for a bad cold no fever just lots of nose blowing, sneezing no coughing, they put her on amox. antibiotics 400 mg tablets, three times a day because she had pneumonia last april, (this is not her regular doctor, different state) as precautionary, no fever. her cold went away and then this past 2/19/08 she complained of feeling sick and achey (achy) in her lower back, kidney area, leg pain.  she didnt start with the dry barky sounding cough until Friday 4 am felt feverish about 101-102 so i gave her some antibiotic/leftover from cold above and gave her robitusin cough and cold that evening. saturday started with the musinex during day and again robitusin for night, but for some reason her cough seems to be getting chronic will take her to the er tomorrow if no signs of improvement it will be sunday, but we have no history here at the er naturally and with my experience in the past with my daughter it takes a few rounds of being seen for them to get a diag. or treatment that would work. she's had strep in the past prior to her pneumonia and amox. never really worked for her so they gave her the augmentin. any advice would help thanks in advance. can i also request a chest x-ray in the er?
