Herpes Simplex Virus type 2 is genital herpes, and easily spreads by genital-genital or genital-oral contact, even more so when there's an open sore.

Cold sores are more often caused by Herpes Simplex Virus type 1, which is not a venereal disease, and not sexually transmitted.  HSV1 is passed by casual contact, often by infected family members.

If a person had a "cold sore" after fellatio with someone with HSV2 I would worry about a HSV2 infection causing the "cold sore".

Your doctor can culture it, and examine it, and consider antiviral medications like acyclovir, famvir, valtrex to shorten the length of time with symptoms
