Hi, I am not a medical person, but am a mom. "normal" body temp is 98.6 degrees by mouth, if you are doing a baby with rectal thermometer, I believe you subtract a degree for accuracy, and add a degree for under the arm. Children tend to get high fevers more than adults, although I've had 104.5 on several occasions in my twenties with UTI's, and other times just being sick. I am not sure if a digital thermometer makes a difference.  I also know some people run a lower temp normally, so t hey will feel hotter, and actually have a considerable temperature at 99 degrees since their normal reading may be closer to 97. Hope this helps! I currently am waiting for a reply regarding my current low temp, as I have been feeling sick, with congestion, and thought I'd take my temp with the hot flashes I've been getting and bad body aches. Crazy enough, and my temp is a normal 98.6 when I am well, is only 96 degreees.??!
