There is no real way to get rid of a head cold but you can use theraflu which helps make go faster. Warm tea and a steamy shower with vapor rub in a lid at the bottom of the tub where the water can hit it. These things will help make the cold on so bad and help til the cold is gone.
Unfortunately these things take time to get rid of and sometimes can linger for weeks.
Keep up with the inhalations and drink plenty of fluids.
If you feel really unwell, have fever, earache, sinus pain or your mucus is green or yellow a visit to the doc for a check up wouldn't go amiss just to check that you do not have a bacterial infection.
If it is viral, you just have to be patient. Take over the counter cold remedies for relief and keep warm.
When my grandkids have any type of cold I smear Vick on their chest and on their back when they stay with me (used to do that when my kids were young). Also a bowl of hot water with Vick in it in the bedroom.
I also like Olbass oil, but my husband hates it.
Also inhalation over a bowl of steamy water with a towel over the head helps too.
I also like Vick's and humidifiers, or a steamy shower if you don't have a humidifier. I stumbled upon this phone/email feature to have tips from MDs sent to you daily, I think one of the topics is flu/cold and another might be headaches, you can sign up here for your future head colds: http://bit.ly/VSHOtg
Glad to hear you're feeling better!
