medicine cost Q for my kids, help please!

i hope someone can help me here. I know this is totally unrelated to anything but when has that ever stopped me from posting? lol

Does anyone know approximately how much antibiotic eye drops might cost for a kid?? I have to take BOTH my boys ot the dr. tomorrow. My 5 yr old has been sick almost a full week now- bad cold, ear problems, chest cold and now his tonsils are huge again and tonight he says his throat hurts worse again. He has missed school the entire week now!!!

and then, my poor 3 year old...he has it too except in addition he has the cold in his eyes (???) Ive never seen anything like it before- not only are his eyes super watery, red, & swollen ,, they have a yellow discharge!!! its awful! when he wakes up from a nap or sleep his eyelashes are half matted shut and i have to take a hot washcloth to fix them. Im assumign he has an eye infection from the cold and will need eye drops for this. We have no health insurance and Im wondering how much this might cost. If anyone has any idea that would be great. Im fretting already because Im sure the Dr will send them home with a fistfull of RXs each. UGH this sucksss!!!!

The above posts  are all good advise. I would ask the doc tomorrow for samples of any prescriptions he writes for the kids,  trust me, the doc's ofc  has ALOT of samples from the pharm. companies,  and can probably give you everything you need if you explain about the lack of insurance and monies needed to purchase the medicine.
There is a back log in many states for benefits, please know the people that call EVERY day or twice a day will get faster service regardless of the backlog, especially when you are talking about needed meds for children.  Does your state not have a seperate agency for women with children in need,  not DSHS or Medicaid  but a program for moms in the same situation you are in right now.  We have that in my state  and am pretty sure it is a federal program,  please ask when you check on medicaid.

You absolutely need to file your taxes from 2007, and can do so at any time.  At this point you are in arrears and should check with the local  county/state/ or city legal office (no charge) to see what you need to do about filing joint or seperate,  I don't know your marital status for 2007 so you need to make sure that is legit.   You can file your taxes for 2008 in January  or at anytime that you have complete documentation for taxes/income/interest ect for 2008.

I hope this helps a bit.  I know how much we worry when our babies are sick.  I hope it goes well for you and them at the doc tomorrow.

I have to agree with nauty., sounds like pink eye and you will need meds to get rid of it. ask for samples from your dr or gentric at the pharmacy. sometimes it takes a while for medicaid to catch up with you. the pharmacy should be able to tell you what the cost is before they fill it for you. good luck

I just read your above post and glad you applied .......they may not approve you, but they will definitely approve the children......do you have family that can help you with the scripts?....somebody???  dang it.  Last time they needed meds I assume you didn't get them and thats prolly why they keep getting sick.  ......dang it.

I hope they approve you soon.  What are you going to do?  are you going to take them to the doctor??

I don't quite understand your post, sorry.....I'm no a mom but your kid prolly has pink-eye and needs drops....the others are sick and need meds...this is like your third post in a about six weeks....Why are you not applying for assistance?? It's out there for your kids.... it seems that you want answers from us that we cant and shouldn't be answering?......How can we tell you costs when we don't know what the doc's gonna prescribe?.....

Your a Mom, hun......call a pharmacy.  We don't have those answers for you.

Please get them to the doc ASAP and apply for health care for them.  If you don't know how.....thats probably something someone can help you with here.

I'm not trying to be rude....I know it sounds that way.  I just worry about children being sick all the time.  Please get assistance.......Its there !!!!

LL- yes i did APPLY about 2 weeks after I moved out and STILL waiting to hear anything, if we will be approved, denied or what. I heard on the news that the state of Ohio is pathetically behind in this so bad, that there are people waiting 6 MONTHS or MORE to get their health benefits they applied for. I sure hope it doesnt take that long for us too (if we even get approved). The biggest problem Ive had all along is not having a provable income. THat was double true when i was still living with the husband but all i have for myself is Ebay profits which arent much at all. But anyhow I did not file for income taxes last year which is one of the main things they WANT to see. I plan on filing my ebay earnings ASAP (how soon can you file taxes?? I know april is the deadline, but how soon can you turn them in? Can you do them as early as January??)
