pins and needles

Hi. This is my first time in one of these forums. Yesterday, I felt a cold coming on. When I get one, it comes fast and furious. My husband has been sick for 3 weeks with a cough and cold and our 13 month old has a green constant runny nose. As I am the one who can't (hahaha) get sick, I acted quickly and took my usual alka seltzer cold medicine. When I woke this morning, my head was all stuffy. I went to check on the baby, blew my nose and all of a sudden felt nauseous which quickly proceeded to include major dizziness. I turned about 10 shades paler  and almost passed out. I got into bed and found that my fingers, hands and feet had pins and needles feelings for aboout 10 minutes. I've never had the pins and needles when sick, just when I've been sitting for a while. Although I do have to say that lately I wake up with stiff fingers and pins and needles in my hands. Anyone have this before?

I know what you mean, if mama's sick the whole house falls apart.

When a person blows their nose (or cough or sneeze or bear down for bowel movement) they increase the stimulation to the vagus nerve which tells a person's body that they are not getting enough blood to the brain and need to lay down, or the body makes you lay down by blacking out (vaso-vagal syncope)

I've had that myself, when I've gotten up too suddenly, and fainted.  That's because the blood rushed out of the brain.

Ask your doctor to make sure.
