whooping cough

my 2 year old has had a cough for 3 weeks now it sounds like whooping cough to me but to my understanding you only get it once right this is the 3 rd time she's had a cough like this since she was born and there was a case of whooping cough at her daycare so could she have it? she doesn't make the whooping sound but does make a choking sound sometimes its so severe shes gasping right after she finishes coughing. is this whooping cough or is it something else

This doesnt sound like whooping cough it could be asthma especially with the noises she makes, I would take her to the doctor and see what he says, she may need an inhaler to help her, there are also many dry coughs around this year..it could be a virus.
