Blastocystis Hominis and Colitis

Hello.  I recently had a colonoscopy done and my Dr says that I have Chronic Colitis.  I was also told that I have Blastocystis Hominis.  Do you think the parasite is the cause of my Colitis?  Also, would this parasite also cause me to have upper abdominal pain as well?  I have been literally sick since January and have a handful of tests done including blood work, HIDA scan, upper endoscopy & colonoscopy.  Back in February and June I went to the ER for severe stomach pain and rapid resting Heartrate.  I am now on a beta blocker but I was wondering if the parasitic infection could also cause these other symptoms since not one Dr can figure out why my stomach is hurting so badly?  One last question,  I have been reading about the different types of meds to eradicate this infection and it seems as though a lot of the meds aren't very efficient.  Do you have any recommendations for successful eradication meds?  Thank you so very much!

Blastocystis hominis is a controversial organism.
A few studies have linked it to irritable bowel syndrome though it has not been proved categorically.
Iodoquinol and metronidazole can provide some relief.
