Blood Gas Mucus

by turtle87, Nov 10, 2009 07:37PM
About 6 months ago, I noticed that without any reason or change, I started having increased gas and gurgling in my abdomen.  At the time, I was very active, healthy, ate very clean (and boring), drank lots of water, ate lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and fiber intake.  I didn't think anything of it. Then I had 2 weeks of URGENCY and a few days of watery diarreah.  This came from no where!  I hadn't even changed my lifestyle, diet, no traveling...nothing.    One day, i went to urinate, and I passed gas and there was these little round balls of what I think is blood & mucus clots. (only from googling).  Sometimgs this comes out flat and shredded-like, sometimes it is in these balls. (bright red and maroon)
I went to the doctor and got some tests and found out that my iron is very low.  Still waiting on a sigmoidoscopy.
It doesn't seem like it is food related except for that after I eat I get really gasy, bloated, and rumbling.
My stool is ALWAYS mushy!!!  Like a cow pie.  Sometimes, but not very often my stool is in small balls.  My doctor says I do not have hemmroids. I used to have only 1 bowel movement, everyday in the morning.  Then it was 3 everyday in the morning and sometimes a small one in the evening.
I don't have pain....just a lot of discomfort.  Sometimes it feels like even my rectum is making squeeking rumbling noises.  Most of the time I am totally grossed out and wondering what on earth is coming out of me.  My stool color varies although mostly light brown to really really dark brown (could be from iron pills).  I don't know my family history well...but I don't think anyone has IBD or IBS.  I am a white female, 34 years old.  I can certainly live with what I am having and would not say it is painful....but does colitis or crohns start this way?
Thank you for reading my long winded, too much information, description.
I appreciate any comments.

Hi,
Most of your symptoms fit in to irritable bowel syndrome.
Since you mention about passing "blood" like thing, inflammatory bowel disease should be ruled out with colonoscopy.
