Colitis

My mother suffered from colitis for 20 years. She has had her colon removed. She has chonic pouchitis. She can't get an appointment to the doctor until Monday. She has been sick on her stomach for 2 days with loose stools. Not unusual for her. But she has been passed what seems like stomach acid. Is that common with pouchitis? Should she increase her daily cipro? Or should she go to the ER? Thanks much.

Hi,
It is unlikely to be stomach acid.
Probiotics may be taken along with cipro to see if there is any improvement.
If there is no improvement then you may have to consult a gastroenterologist.
