Colon rupture

by rodsheen, Aug 20, 2008 07:20PM
Almost two years ago, I was rushed to to the hospital with what was thought to be appendicitis. I immediately had surgery to take my appendix out. When I woke up, I was told that not only had my appendix been removed, but that my colon had ruptured. The doctor told me that there had been a small, fish bone size hole in my colon and he called it a "freak accident" and that he had only seen it twice in his 20 years of medical practice. I had a colostrophy bag attached to me for over a month before getting my colon reversed back into my body. I am still having pains in the area where my scar is and I want to know is that normal? and will it I ever be free of pains from where my two surgery scars are? As far as contact sports, I am weary about playing for fear of the pain.

Hi,
There are chances that you might have had adhesions developed inside as a late complication of the abdominal surgery.
You probably need to consult your surgeon to discuss about this possibility.
