Constipated Help

I have had problems with flat stools and constipation for over a year now. It's been a huge part of my life. I went to the dr and he gave me a blood test to see if I had any signs of cancer and also pressed on my intestines to look for masses.

My diet isn't the greatest I eat allot of mc donalds a few times a week I eat cereal with high which barley helps.

My stools are mostly flat and rarely do i get a nice sold round stool.

My blood test came back normal and my dr told me he didn't think I had cancer and told me to try a fiber drink that you mix with water. I don't like those drinks because I'm afraid of chocking on it since I have bad reflux and most things i eat get burped up and the bulking agent will get caught in my throat.

If I eat prunes it seems to help move stuff out. If i eat prunes with a high fiber cereal it helps but doesn't solve the problem. This is the longest I have had constipation in my life.

Hi,
High fiber diet along with the plenty of water are generally suggested as the firstline measures while treating constipation after excluding organic causes like obstructing masses etc.

If you dont feel comfortable with fiber supplements as it is  unpleasant to drink , you may try the new calcium based preparations available which dissolve completely in water.
Discuss with your doctor regarding this.
