Crohn's / UC in infant?

Crohn's / UC in infant?

Hello,

We are two young parents with Crohn's disease. Our two and a half months old baby boy is showing some symptoms, and we wonder if they can be related to Crohn's or UC. First, lymph nodes are swollen all over his body. Second, the baby cries and twists extremely when he expels gas or feces. Finally, his GGT (gama glutamyl transpeptidase) is high (around 90u, while other liver indicators are normal). The baby feed on formula, and was delivered one month earlier than expected. During pregnancy, the mother took purinethol and prednisone. Our family doctor failed to find any reason for the symptoms, ruling out several viruses on the way.

Thanks

Hi,
Though inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's disease can occur in kids, it is rarely diagnosed/reported during infancy.
Crying and twisting during expulsion of gas and feces could be both normal and abnormal . Only after a thorough examination it is possible to find the cause.

Regarding high GGT , an ultrasound scan of the abdomen has to be done to see the status of the biliary tract.
