Desperate Help

by at_wits_end63, Jan 21, 2009 12:53PM
My aunt was diagnosed with colo/rectal cancer two years ago. Since then, she has had the proper surgeries, chemo & radiation treatments and prescribed medicines therapy. Her cancer symptoms and conditions have gotten better... to the point of all test showing no cancer cells. However, she has since been diagnosed with UC, eosinophilic (sp) disorder, along with two other disorders I can not recall right now. She exhibits some signs of celiacs. She chronically has a mucus discharge and urgency along with control issues of the bowels. If she doesn't eat, she doesn't have issues with the bathroom frequency. She has lost over 80 pounds, recently, since these issues began. After she nausea went away from treatments she was able to eat baked/broiled fish, baked/broiled chicken, vegetables and some fruits. Now, she can not even tolerate baby food. Her incident's include horrible stomach cramps and occasionally nausea. Honestly, it's like she's become allergic to food...it's getting much worse and we are at our wits end to help her. She's all but given up, she wishes she had never had the treatments and just dealt with whatever the cancer held for her. PLEASE, help us help her.

Hi,
Since you have mentioned that she has been diagnosed with UC, eosinophilic gastroenteritis and two other disorders, they need to be confirmed with endoscopies and biopsy/ histopathological examination.
If confirmed appropriate treatement  like 5ASA for UC, steroids for eosinophilic disorders should be given.
