Diarrhea with mucus and blood

by Jay111, Sep 09, 2008 03:55PM
Doc,

I am a 42 year old male, healthy. The other morning I woke up with bad stomache cramps, bloating and diarrhea. The initial BM was prety severe. Later through the day I had several more loose BM, nothing like the first one but now there is some mucus with red blood mixed in it. I don't know if the blood was bright red but it was red.The night before I had bar food, shrimp coctail and then when I got home an egg and pork sausage sandwhich before I went to bed. I have been sensitive to eggs in the past and ended up with diarrhea. Should I be concerned about the blood and mucus. I have never noticed blood or mucus in a BM before with the exception of one time when I was on Leviquin for 10 days. The Dr. said it was due to the Leviquin. That was about a year ago.

Hi,
Blood and mucus diarrhea along with cramps is due to colitis most probably due to infection in your case.
Consult your doctor to get the appropriate medications.

Also, it seems that the mucus and blood were gone by the next day.

                                                                  Thank You.
