HELP MY 11 YEAR OLD

My 11 year old son has had problems with constipation since potty trained. Dr put him on Glycolax the past 5 years to help him go regularly. Its like he doesn't feel that he needs to go. I have to make him go in and sit -then he'll go. If i 4get to make him -and 2 days go by -he ends up in the ER because he's in severe pain and it bulges out his left side(under ribs) and he screams if you touch his side. Could there be something else wrong besides just constipation?  He's on a high fiber diet and salba mix drink that helps with digestion, and i make him sit and go everyday. But maybe having something to do with the muscles? nerves in colon?  AT 11 yrs old he has Enuresis too - could these problems be connected?

Hi,
One of the common causes of constipation is poor toilet training leading to functional constipation. Since he enuresis also, it  could  more of a functional problem.
A detailed evaluation by a gastroenterologist has to be done before branding it as functional.
