Having trouble giving 3yr old son enemas for colitis

by roniesk, Aug 26, 2008 01:52PM
My 3 1/2 yr old son was recently diagnosed with Colitis, proctitis to be exact.  It has been 5 days now giving him an enema before bed and each day its getting harder and harder.  He is nervous all day asking me if he has to get the medicine again and I feel like I am hurting my child instead of helping him.  Any suggestions?  I'm not sure for how long more I can go on giving this to him.  I feel that I should stop and just continue the oral medicine.  The blood and mucus and stomach pains have gone away.

Hi,
If the symptoms have subsided you may switch to oral medications with your doctor's consent.
Both oral and topical medications are effective though topical is better.
