I really need advise for esophagus reflex

by WILL1978, Sep 15, 2009 09:40PM
Hello Everyone

My name is Will, I'm 31 yr's old male. Aprox 3 years ago, I started having stomach problems (short breathing, too much gases in stomach, pain in the upper stomach), I saw 3 doctors and I after 1 year, one of them was able to diagnose me with esophagus reflex and Lactose problem.

I was put on a medication by the name of Nexiom and I was taking a pill everyday for 1 year, however, I never felt that it had corrected my stomach problems or even improved it. I went and I saw another doctor who had put me on the same medication again for another 6 month. I was told by my doctor that it originally started because of stresses and with me drinking lots of coffee and smoking it doesn't help.

Is there anyone out there who can help me and tell me of another medication that I can talk to my doctor about (only if it did help you with the similar problems I'm having). My other question is, does anyone know what are the side effects if I continued living with this reflex? My doctor is saying I may live with it and it will never go but my problem is that it's getting worse that it became a night mare and I have stomach problems everyday now. It's not a comfortable feeling at all especially when I sleep next to my wife with these gases, not really comfortable.

Can someone please help me?

Hi,
If you are not responding to Nexium reevaulate your problem with 24 hours pH monitoring test.
Long term reflux can lead to the development of Barrett's esophagus ( a couple of decades later) and it is a premalignant condition.
