Long White Mucous in my Bowel and Black bowels too!

by ALLinMYheadABOUTpoop, Oct 14, 2008 10:56AM
I have been more and more aware of stangeties with my bowels.  Atleast twice a month, I experience very black (not even dark green) poop.  Then, like a day or 2 later, a regular brown, smooth skinned poop with what looks like mucous laced in.  (Kinda like when you hock cole out of your mouth into the toilet, but it's attached to poop).  So then my boyfriend tells me I"m passing gas all night long and he's moved to sleeping on the couch.  So then today, I took a stick and decided to mess with the poope in the toilet to take  a pic for a doc & low and behold, I couldn't see it in the toilet bottom, but once I moved it to the more shallow water in the bowl, there was like a long (clear earthworm like) mucous with a tiny bit of blood in it.  Very long, like 6 inches, but white, mucous colored, not a brown earthworm.  But thick too, mot just stringy.  The soonest GI appointment I can get is in 3 weeks.  Any one to help?

It sounds like some form of IBD. Before I was diagnosed I passed dark red/ black stools (caused by bleeding from the colon wall) and stools with mucous attached. As my condition worsened (over a couple of months) I began passing only mucous several times a day, in addition to my regular stool, then bloody diarrohea and then just blood and mucous.... my advice is to stay hydrated (8+ glasses a day), limit your insoluble fibre in the meantime, avoid nuts, seeds, fruit peel and vegetable peel, pop-corn as these are all colon irritants (if you are inflammed). At first my doctor said I had an anal fissure and IBS before I had my first real flare and was hospitalised, so make-sure your doc checks for IBD.

All the best.
