Outlook for Proctitis

I'm 57 - have had proctitis for 3 years.  It's well controlled with canasa every other day 1000 mg.  What are the chances of colon cancer with this condition?

Hi mrsjoy,
Patients with ulcerative colitis have an increased likelihood of developing cancer with a life time risk of 3% to 5%.
But patients with left side disease ( as in your case) are at LESS RISK.

Surveillance for cancer should be done.
But it is generally deferred until 15-20 years after the diagnosis if the disease is only left sided ( yours is a left sided disease).
