Passing blood

Thank you for your response doctor. I did not add that I am passing at least a half cup of pure blood with no pain, I am sure it is not rectum or hemorodes.

Sounds a lot like what happened to me when I was having an Ulcerative Colitis flareup. I was losing a lot of blood. The blood was mostly on the stool--when I had a stool that is. Later, I just had pure diarrhea. So it was kind of hard to estimate exactly how much blood I was losing, but I figure it was about 1 1/2 to 2 cups a day.

The fact that the blood is not in the stool is a good sign that the problem is closer to the rectum. The fact that there is blood is a bad sign that something is seriously wrong. You need to see a doctor ASAP. I almost lost my colon, because I waited so long.

An internal examination will be able to tell you for sure what's going on. I had a sigmoidoscopy. My colon was in no condition to get a colonoscopy done. In fact, the doctor could not even do the full sigmoidoscopy. Once my colon healed, my doctor did a colonoscopy to make sure nothing else was wrong.

Hi,
Only a colonoscopy can tell the exact cause.
