Post Op Surgery of resection of colon

Hi,
I underwent emergency surgery two weeks ago.  I am a 29 y/o female and suddenly got a terrible pain on my lower right side.  I was diagnosed with Diverticulosis and was told that a polyp had bursted and I needed surgery immediately.  They removed six inches of my large intestine on the right side.  The surgeon said this is uncommon and I will not have any reoccurence.  Is this true?  I am also very swollen, numb and in a lot of pain when does it stop and subside?  Is there a strict diet I am suppose to follow.  I have asked my surgeon and he is very impersonable and not helpful.

Hi,
Diverticulosis is more common in elderly patients.Only about 5% occur in patients younger than 40 years.

The risk of recurrence is high in younger patients.

High fiber diet may prevent recurrence.
