Stomach or IBS?

Stomach or IBS?

Dear Doctor,

I am a woman of 26 years. The last two months i am suffering from stomach pains. The symptoms are a sensation of bloating immediately after eating, strong stomach pains that become worse after eating, the pains calm down for 30 min and come back, alot of gas from the stomach to the throat, lately night stomach pains and abdominal bloating, pains and sounds.  I have a family history of stomach problems, my mother with gastritis and my sister diagnosed with h.Bacterium. All my symptoms began 2 months ago after a week of clyndamicine(i was 3 weeks with diarrhea and now have normal bowel movements but the food is not diagested) The doctor gave me tablets agaisnt dyspepsia and didnt diagnose me just saying is a IBS.  Could it be a stomach problem or large intestine problem? Is it caused by the antibiotics because i have been alwasy fine before taking them?  I have another appointment, what tests should i ask?

Thanking you in advance.

Hi,
Thosugh the symptoms you have mentioned can occur with IBS, I would not call this IBS.
IBS is a functional disease .According to criteria for diagnosing IBS,  the symptoms should be present for atleast three months.
Since your family members were diagnosed with H.pylori you could well be affcted by it.
An upper GI endoscopy along with testing H.pylori would be ideal.
