COLITIS EXPERT FORUM
Thank you

Thank you

Dear doctor,
Thank you for your sugesstions and help. To refresh my history... Four weeks ago i took clyndamicine for 1 week, one capsule three times a day against bacterial vaginosis. In the forth day of the medication i began having strong stomach pains and severe diarrhea. I went to the doctor again she said it was normal coz it was a strong antibiotic and i had to use probiotics. I am takins probiotics 2 tablets per day from 4 days now. The stool is normal now, i do not know if it will continue to be normal after stoping probiotics but i continue to have very strong stomach pains. It is a severe pain and i have nausea.(not pregnant). The pain is so strong after eating and continues for 1 or 2 hours after eating and i do not like to it because i feel ful. The pain is so strong and i do not know what to do. The doctor said if i continue like this have to go in the hospital. I need some suggestions, could clyndamicine have caused a stomach disease, a stomach ulcer or what else? The pain is immediatelly below the breast bone and i feel like i am full and that the food is coming up from the stomach. Thank you so much for all the sugesstions and help.
Best regards,
suela

Hi,
Pain just below the breastbone could be due to peptic ulcer disease. Ulcer disease is not commonly associated with the use of clindamycin.
I would suggest you undergo an upper GI endoscopy to find the cause. Meanwhile you can take PPI and also continue the probiotics.
