Worried

Dear doctor,

I am a young woman of 26 years. Two weeks ago i took clyndamicine (300 mg ) one tablet three times a day for seven day for a bacterial vaginosis. During the treatment i began having severe stomach pains and diarrhea. Now 10 days after the treatment the situation continues the same. I have 4 times a day diarrhea and constant stomach pain. If feels sometimes like the food is coming out of the stomach and there is a severe and constant pain. I was wondering is it possible that the antibiotic have caused a stomach ulcer ? My mum and sister have suffered from stomach ulcer but i have never suffered myself. Could it be the medicine caused ulcer or an abdominal colitis? What tests should the doctor do and what can i suspect now? Colitis from the antibiotics ????
Thank you very much for you suggestions.
Best regards,
suela

Hi,
What you suffer from is called antibiotic associated colitis. It is due to c-diff infection which occurs as a result of the antibiotis that have been taken by you.
Stool examination is done to diagnose it.

A course of metronidazole for 10 days would relieve the symptoms.
