after diverticu

by resptk, May 08, 2009 06:08PM
I am a 41 year old woman whowas hospitalized for diverticulitis about 3 months ago.  After antibiotics, bowel rest and iv fluids, it went away.  I am going to have a colonoscopy this summer as a follow up.  Since then, I have had three different episodes of discomfort and the feeling that I need to have a bowel movement, but can't...or having many, many small bowel movements for a 24 hour period.  I have never had this problem before.  each time that happened, I was sure I was headed down the same path of diverticulitis...but by the next day, things were back to normal.  Is this typical for someone with diverticulosis?  Could the diverticulitis have caused some other  chronic problem?

Thanks for any insight/ideas...
