bleeding,mucus in stool, cramping

Since this morning I have had cramping in my stomach, mucus mixed with blood , no diarrhea, I had a colonoscopy 1 month ago  and everything was o.k,  I do have IBS but this has been going on for hours and the cramping happens  around every  20 minutes with only a small amount of mucus with a bright red color. Do you have any idea what is causing this and what I should do, my Dr is away for the holiday weekend.  Thank you

Hi,
Cramps, blood and mucus un stool indicates colitis. It could be an infective or inflammatory colitis.
Stool examination and colonsocopy may be helpful in diagnosing.
Antispasmodics, antibiotics may be taken for relief.
