Is colitis and ulcerative colitis two different things or one in the same?

Hi Tootsie60,

Colitis means inflammation of the colon. Ulcerative colitis is a type of colitis.
Colitis can be of many other causes also including infections.
So colitis is not synonymous with ulcerative colitis.
