deficating blood

ok so just yesterday january 14th i had some stomach pains nothing major ive had much worse in the past but i went to the bathroom and when i stood up i saw blood in the toilet not just a drop and its not just when i wipe its coming out as i deficate and when i wipe its an awful lot of blood too ive researched online and i would just like to hear from a doctor before i actually go see one what could possibly be wrong with me and what might have to be done to solve this issue thank you

Hi,
If it is bright red in color then the source of bleeding is from lower down the large bowel. If you see drops of blood then it is most likley to be due to hemorrhoids.
If you get severe pain while defecating and the stool if coated with blood then it may be due to anal fissure.
The other causes include  polyps, infectious colitis, IBD, diverticulosis and malignancy.
Sigmoidoscopy may be done for evaluation.

okay so it was bright red and it wasn't just a drop it was a quite a bit of blood i didn't have any severe pain while defecating although i had a bit of pain in my lower stomach before not massive amounts i've had worse in the past it only happened twice and it stopped i am no longer having pains nor defecating blood do you think it is a serious problem and should i go get checked out?
