fistula

I had a fistula which had no ending that could be found. It ran towards my thigh and then stopped. I had it laid open and stitched down and that was two months ago. we have been packing it and cleaning it three times a day and it has not completely healed. It is close and everytime it seems to be alomost healed it opens up and a small hole is there again and needs to be packed. The original tract was about 3 cm and the whole thing was cut open to the end. Is this normal? If so what other medicines or remedies can I do or take to finish the healing process of this issue?

Hi,
I presume you mean anal fistula.
Fistula is usually treated by surgery ( fistulotomy). In this procedure unroofing of the tunnel is done.
Sealing of the anal fistulas can also be done with fibrin adhesives.
Sometimes setons are used to drain the pus before surgery is done.
