localized colitis?

I've been diagnosed with localized colitis at the area where my small colon meets my large colon.  i can't find anything specific about this supposedly less severe colitis.  Is the difference only that it's less prevelant that UC - not in as many spots, etc or is there something more that makes it different?  Also, I am becoming more & more convinced that the food sensativities (wheat, coffee, lactose, yeast, yogurt) that I have is what is triggering it; any thoughts on this?

Hi,
The two common inflammatory bowel diseases are ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
Ulcerative colitis usually starts in the rectum and involvee varying portion of the large intestine above it.
On the other hand Crohn's disease can occur anywhere from mouth to anus and it is not continous as UC also. The most common site of the CD terminal ileum - that is where the small bowel joins the large bowel. So you probably must be having CD. A biopsy would be helpful. Testing for ASCA antibodies would be additional eveidence.
