my 6 yr old daughter has colon infection. She is having loose stools for more than 10 times today.what do i do?it is green in color.she had this 6 months back.we were traveling last week and possibly she could have caught the infection. She was diagnosed after her stomach ultrasound. We are not sure whether we need to hospitalise her.we are giving her oral hydration and antibiotics given by her daughter. We are worried she would dehydrate if she is let to stay without  venal drips please advice.

Hi,
Children are more prone for dehydration following loose stools.
Give her enough electrolyte rich fluids. Give her pedialyte.
If her urine outoput decreases or she becomes lethargic with decreasing physical activities or drowsy she might have to be hopsitalized and given IV fluids.
Give her probiotic supplements.
She might need antibiotics if it is due to bacterial infection.
