severe burning upper abdomin(abdomen)

I have a severe burning pain right below my chest. this pain only occurs if i'm sitting up. When I lay down or are standing up I have no burning. The only way for me to tollerate the pain when I'm sitting is to use ice packs. This has been going on for 3 years now. I have had mri's, upper gi's, cat scans, cortizone shots, lots of different pain killers. I been to neurologist, gasterologists, and other specialists but they still cant stop the burning or find out what this is. Do you have any ideas?

Burning pain below the chest after sitting up from the lying position could most probably due to involvement of the peripheral nerves or the spine/vertebral column. You need to consult an orthopedician and neurologist for complete evaluation.
If it is due to nerve involvement you may get relief from pain by taking oxcarbazepine. Consult  your neurologist regarding this.
