severe stomach problems after stomach virus

by Grant1302, Jun 22, 2009 10:34PM
So I am completely at a loss and really could use some help! About 2 and a half months ago, a bad stomach virus went around my work. After 3 days, the fever, vommting, and excessive diahrea left, but my stomach has not been right since. I have pain, cramping, gas, rumbling in my stomach and sometimes still diahrea throughout the day. Some hours I feel good, but most of the time I am dealing with some kind of pain in my stomach (not centralized in any one area). It is worst when I wake up in the morning but am never actually woken up from it. I have taken every med my GP and GI have told me to (Omeprazole, Nexium, Bentyl, Gas-Ex, Pepto, digestive enzymes, and some presciption anti spasmodic I cant remember the name of) to no avail. I also have had every test in the book...Gallbladder ultrasound, colonoscopy/endoscopy, Barium Xray, capsule endoscopy, stool tests, and bloodwork...and they have found nothing out of the norm and cannot come up with any kind of dignosis other than stress or post-viral IBS. I am a 28 year old male and have a pretty high pain threshhold and refuse to believe the pain I have been in for almost 3 months could be caused by stress or IBS. Does anyone have any suggestions??? I really am at a loss because this is affecting me so badly and hard to even show up for work. Please help!

Hi,
The history, symptoms and test results are highly suggestive of postinfectious IBS.
Take a course of probiotics along with antispasmodics and antidepressants for relif.
You can take probiotics and Librax for relief.
