suppositories as treatment for ulcerative proctitis

by viviloves, Aug 01, 2008 06:22AM
Hi~  I have been diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis (10 cm approx.) and have been prescribed 1g Pentasa suppositories and 2.4g Asacol tablets daily. Is it necessary to continue to take both daily (I am in remission) or can try using the suppositories alone or taking lessening the dose of the Asacol while continuing to use the suppositories, or try using the suppositories every other day? What is the usual advice/ dosage in the case of U.P?

Many thanks.

Hi,
It is better to continue both as the relapse rate is less with this combination
If foam preparation is available, you can try that instead of suppostitories.
