ulcerativeproctosigmoiditis

I was diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis 4 years ago it has progressed to ulcerativeproctosigmoiditis.  Last year had to leave my job and go on disability because of my condition.  I was on prednisone for 8months, asacol, cort enemas, entecort, azathioprine in the proces lost alot of my hair and to no resolve nothing is working .  I am out or work again and nothing is working we tryed sulfasazine and no improvement .  I have heard of other treatments but the side effects out weigh the resolve.  I am considering surgery because i need a permanent fix and not a bandaid to cover the  wound only for it to reopen again.  Please help .  My quality of life has gone although i am healthy physically fit I am overwhelmed.  What do I do?

Hi,
Surgery is indicated when medical treatment fails to control the disease.
Consult your gastroenterolgist regarding the various surgical options.
