very sick for ten days

by shelie6184, Oct 10, 2009 09:12AM
I have been very sick for going on ten days now. server stomache pain feels like someone is stabbing me in the stomache, nausea but never have anything in my stomache to throw up, and diarrhea the whole time.  The pain is so bad sometimes i have to just double over and cry.  I have been to Physican's Plus (like an er) where they told me I had IBS, 4 days after that the symptoms got worse so I went to my family doctor who wasn't much help gave me depression pills.  2 days following my dr visit I woke in the middle of the night with the worst pain I've had since this all started my mom took me to the er where I spent 9 1/2 hours there.  They took blood, did x-rays, and a ct scan and they all came back normal.  I don't know what is wrong with me and it seems that no one else does either.  anyone have any clues?  I'm so tired of being sick I've lost like 10 lbs already because i can't eat or keep food down.

Hi,
Pain in the middle of the night waking you up from your sleep and loss of weight are not features of IBS and are in fact against the diagnosis of IBS.
The symptoms are quite nonspecific and it is difficult to come to a diagnosis (online) based on the information given.
All I can say is it is not a functional bowel disease like IBS and that it is an organic bowel disease requiring evaluation by a gastroenterologist.
