Anyone have undiagnosed bloody stools?

I am a 35 yr old female.  I've been having periodic (1 every week or 2) of bloody stool. Sometimes blood clots, sometimes just a little bit. Sometimes the stool is firm, sometimes diarreah (diarrhea). I had a colonoscopy in 5/2008, it showed a small ulcer, but nothing significant.  I had a pill cam study done in 1/2009. This showed additional small ulcers in my small intestine.  My GI Dr. put me on Pentasa, although all of my labs came back as negative for celiac disease or Chron's disease.

I clearly have something wrong with me.  I actually called my mom into the restroom last week, out of concern.  She estimated several tablespoons of blood & urged me to see the Dr. ASAP.  I went back in today.  He says he truly does not know what is wrong. I don't really fall into any category. He's trying me on a trial drug for a week & then re-evaluating.

I am concerned.  My maternal grandfather died of colon cancer at 54.  I certainly don't want anything to be wrong, but I believe I've been in denial for a while now.  My gut instinct tells me to press the Dr. for more test.

Any advise?

Go with that gut instinct, press for more testing.  With your symptoms and family history this bleeding should be taken very seriously.

I have a family history of colon cancer (4 generations) and I ignored  bleeding for a long time.  I was late in Stage 3 when my cancer was diagnosed.  Do not wait around - get to a doctor and demand some answers.  If your doctor cannot give you answers, consult another doctor.

Its worthwhile to be the squeaky wheel at times like these.  Good luck and please post again to let us know how you're doing.
