I had a sigmoidectomy for cancer five weeks ago and occasionally get a small amount of blood seeping from my stool.  Is this a result of the surgery and normal?

Although this show of blood is probably as a result of your surgery, nevertheless I think you should double check with your surgeon who is responsible for your total recovery.  In 2004 I underwent a total colectomy without any evidence of "after-bleeding" and, in your position, I would ask....
