Sigmoid Colon Fold - what is this? Cancer?

I had a colonoscopy and they did a biopsy on a fold found on the sigmoid colon.  What does this mean?  How is it treated?

They biopsy anything that doesn't appear normally within the colon.  This doesn't mean that anything is wrong, it may just be the shape of your colon, but they have to follow procedure.  Even if it's something, it's very early in the game, so it will be caught before it would turn cancerous. Treatment depends on exactly what it is.  Try not to worry yourself sick about this, when things are caught early it's the best case scenario.  Let us know what you learn when the biopsy comes back.  Best wishes and take care.
