Symptoms of colon caner

Ok for almost six months now I have been having irregular bowel movements.  Never a solid stool they are always loose and usually in the morning.  I know this is not normal because I always used to have solid stools six months ago.  It could be because I think I contracted HPV six months ago.  I had unprotected sex with a girl and later she told me she had HPV.  The doctor said he didnt think i had it but after all my body changes im pretty sure i do because no tests were conducted.  Can a virus such as this cause irregular bowel movements.  Do I have cancer or some underlying problem?  I don't have insurance till another 60 days because I just got hired. Please help

Hi,

It is estimated that a large number of adults would acquire HPV. This virus however tends to affect cells that are flat and skin-like (squamous cell). Hence, some organs such as the cervix would be primarily affected.
The Gastrointestinal tract is composed largely of gland-like cells which are not squamous cells, so it is unlikely that the virus would be wreaking havoc on the intestines directly.
Irregular bowel movement isn’t very specific for cancer. Symptoms which would raise the possibility would be blood in the stool. If you are concerned about colon cancer, you could consider having a stool exam which targets at detecting blood. Irregular bowel movement may also be coupled with malabsorption, you should check your weight to ascertain you are not losing any.
The Gastrointestinal tract has an independent nervous system, hence disruptions in normal periods of defecation, may take several days for the gut to re-orient itself.  Stay positive.
