Two out of four polyps cancerous..

Two out of four polyps cancerous..

Had my first colonoscopy in Sept. and had four removed. Follow up appt. with surgeon in Oct.  Was told two out of the four were cancerous. Told me to take aspirin once a day....How much?
I was so shocked I couldn't remember exactly everything he said.
Have to return next year for another colonscopy.
I had no symptoms! My primary physician never brought up the subject of a colonscopy. Since I turned 54 this year I demanded that he schedule one. I am female 5'6" 137 pounds and in excellent health with no family history of this.
Thank you in advance,
TMU

HI there.

Aspirin intake for those who have colonic polyps can really decrease the chance of recurrence and the eventual development and progression of cancer.  This is one of the recent breakthroughs in cancer prevention.

The standard dose in clinical trials is 80mg per day and studies have shown that any dose higher than this would not add any clinical benefit and may increase the risk of side effects.  You can visit this site of the NCI for more information about aspirin and cancer prevention:

I just joined and hopefully you could answer a few questions for me as well.  I was diagnosed with duodenal cancer (stage IV) in Sept. 07'.   I've been on 3 different treatments since then: Oxiplatin, 5FU, (2 others, which I don't have the name of in front of me), and the last 2, (Camptosar and Erbitox), which put my cancer in remission.  I was in pain during different treatments, where my liver is (it mestatized to this area), and in the beginning a lot of pain in my duodenum.  My PET scan came back negative, but the CT is questionable to my oncologist.  He has stopped the treatment of these 2 chemo treatments.  It has been 4 weeks now, and since I have stopped treatment, say the second week, I have had pain.  I am feeling aches and pains from the side where the cancer was in my liver and my ovaries, my lower back, but especially around my stomach/intestines.  I am waiting for the results from a ultrasound of my gallbladder done 2 days ago.  She checked my liver, spleen, duodenum as well, and waiting to see a radiologist to have a liver biopsy done to see if the cancer is really gone.  My oncologist just doesn't know what to tell me when I tell him I feel bad and have pain.  Is it normal to have side effects right after stopping chemo treatment?  Could it be from the many different types of treatments I received during the year that just need to purge the toxins from my body?  What do you think?

Thank you for reading my comment.  Hopefully this is helpful for others as well.
