What is wrong???

Well, Tonight when I got off work, I had to go to the bathroom really bad. When I sat down to poop, I noticed after the first movement there was alot of blood and It's not like is was painful, to be honest, if I didn't look down and notice the blood then I never would of known........... It felt normal....... I bleed even when I was not pushing, for a moment.. It was so much I couldn't even see the bottom of the toliet because of all the blood.  Is this mabey something serious, or just something that tends to..........  just happen??? I was  wanting to seek some advice online before talking or seeing a docter??

I suggest that you seek urgent medical advice because rectal bleeding is abnormal - especially if large (= 100-200 mls) blood are being lost at each visit to the bathroom.  Type in rectal bleeding to google/yahoo to find out causes, symptoms, treatments etc.  I suggest that you ask for a colonoscopy unless your doctor can positively assure you that the cause of the bleeding is minor (anal fissure, haemorrhoids etc).  The more sinister causes of bleeding tend to occur at age 40+.

Some years ago I suffered torrential diverticular bleeding - completely painless but nevertheless life threatening because of the volume of blood lost (up to one litre at a time).  The treatment was urgent admission to hospital, I.V. fluids and massive blood transfusion followed some months later by a total colectomy.

Good luck
